Barnesmore Gap – Masts (Twin Town Walking Festival)

October 6, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

The masts at Barnesmor Gap are an iconic feature on the Donegal landscape. Views from the top range from Sliabh Liag to Sligo, with Donegal Bay nestled in between. This is a must-do walk for anyone who wants to see Donegal at its most beautiful, with large landscapes opening up the higher you get. Bring your camera and prepare to be amazed.

The walk is on good roads and tracks the whole way, and is very achievable for anyone with a good level of fitness.

Distance / Duration : 10km / Approx 2.5 hours (the route may vary dependent on weather conditions)

Ability: Moderate – tracks, muddy and occasionally wet paths. The climb up is mostly gradual, with some steep sections

Suitable for: participants with a good level of fitness who walk on a regular basis. Minimum age is 16 (under 18s to be accompanied by an adult). No dogs.

What to bring: Good walking shoes or boots are essential wear – the path can be very wet in sections. Waterproof and warm clothing is highly recommended – it can be very cold at the top. Walking poles are a benefit.
